EXP2: Week 1

Key Architects:

Friedensreich Hundertwasser:
  1. Uses an organic style to reflect nature, rejecting geometric and square building design.
  2. Creates a sense of individualism through the use of different colours and varying design.
  3. Horizontally layered patterns mimic nature, further reflected through the use of earthy colours.
  4. Use of rooftop gardens and plantations to integrate nature into the building.
  5. Flowing building shape creates a sense of movement and life.

Santiago Calatrava:
  1. Pure and simplistic colour scheme creates a sense of elegance.
  2. Branching organic structures create an almost skeletal building frame.
  3. Careful use of balance and symmetry in his buildings.
  4. Creates a sense of dynamism through the building curvature and flowing structure.
  5. Use of highly detailed facades to provide both decorative and functional usage.
